It’s February! In honor of Valentine’s Day we wanted to recognize a couple of love birds who have become a staple at CFB.
When did you start CrossFit?
-Bob: November 2015 -Lisa: I started about 6 months ago. We got into CrossFit through my brother, Keith. He was in a bad car accident almost 3 years ago and after his recovery he decided to change his lifestyle and started doing CrossFit. He’s completely dedicated and got us started. He trains at ‘Share the Burden’ in Oakville but sometimes comes to CFB and I love having this in common.
What is your favorite quote?
Bob: “That’s what she said.” Just kidding. I really don’t have a favorite quote. A couple I try to live by are “Don’t sweat the small stuff” and “Keep calm and carry on”. -Lisa: Hmm, well I got this in a fortune cookie about 20 years ago and I still have the slip of paper…”To expect life to be tailored to our specifications is to invite frustration.” It just reminds me to let things go sometimes.
What is something about you that your fellow members wouldn’t know?
Bob: Even though I have gray hair Lisa is older than me. -Lisa: I have been skydiving once, 20 years ago.
How has CrossFit affected your life outside the gym?
Bob: My golf game has improved due to Crossfit. It has also motivated me to run several 5K’s and now considering running the Tough Mudder. -Lisa: Well, I don’t get winded anymore going up the stairs at work and my jeans fit a little better. But overall I just feel better.
If you could write a WOD tailored to you, what would it be?
Bob: My tailored WOD would include push press, pull ups, rowing and running. -Lisa: That’s a tough one, it would probably be a partner WOD that included box jumps and double- unders. I still can’t do the DUs but I like trying.
What is your favorite thing about CFB?
Bob: Favorite thing about CFB is that everyone encourages each other and there is no judgment. No lunk alert at CFB!!! 🙂 -Lisa: I like the feeling of acceptance regardless of your skill level.
